Dr. Rachel Piechowiak is a Board-Certified Vascular & Interventional Radiologist and joined the Fauquier Health team in 2020. Prior to her arrival to Fauquier Health she worked at the Vascular Institute of Virginia. She completed her fellowship at New York’s Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2012 and Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey, where she was chosen at Chief Resident. She graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006 and also holds a Master’s Degree in Science (Cellular and Molecular Biology).

Dr. Piechowiak has broad clinical expertise, however has a focus on prostate artery embolization and musculoskeletal embolization. She also has expertise in the treatment of peripheral arterial disease, venous disease, and dialysis access maintenance.  Dr. Rachel Piechowiak takes a patient focused approach. She said, “I enjoy helping patients understand the procedure from start to finish, so they feel comfortable and know what to expect.”

Dr. Piechowiak graduated from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM) in Old Westbury, New York in 2006. She completed her residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at the Morristown Medical Center/Overlook Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey in 2011. Dr. Piechowiak obtained her board certification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology in 2013.

Dr. Piechowiak has several publications dating from 2006 to 2018 such as:

  • Tear of the Plantaris Tendon. Case report, Case-in-Point. 2006
  • Prostatic Artery Embolization and its Efficacy in the Reduction of Nocturia. KEI Journals, Medical Research Archives.
  • Current Concepts and Future Directions of Minimally Invasive Treatment for Knee pain. 2018
Dr. Piechowiak has been a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology since 2011. She is involved in clinical research with topics ranging from Embolization to Cancer.  Dr. Piechowiak is leading a Clinical Study to evaluate the effects of embolization on treatment of knee pain.  She has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals including two interventional journals: Journal of Vascular & Interventional Radiology and Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology.
She enjoys cooking, exercise and good humor to round out her life.
